2 x Social Media & Communications Officer

Location: United Kingdom/Remote (UK-based)

About Us: We are a registered charity operating as a network for Latinx women and non-binary people living and working in the UK. Our goal is to expand the professional and social opportunities for Latinx women by creating a platform where they can expand their networks, develop their professional skills and share experiences with a group of like-minded women. This is a group for mutual growth through collaboration, created by Latin women, for Latin women beginning their professional journey.

  • Latin Girls At Work is seeking two enthusiastic and strategic Social Media & Communications Officers to lead our communications across all channels. This role goes beyond social media; we are looking for volunteers to develop and deliver a consistent communications strategy that amplifies our mission, engages our audiences, and promotes our work, including events, partnerships, and our blog Vocês.

    We want someone proactive and creative, with strong organisational skills and a passion for our values as a charity. The Social Media & Communications Officers will have the autonomy to shape our voice, strengthen our presence, and build lasting connections with our community and stakeholders.

    • Leading the planning, creation, and scheduling of content across Latin Girls At Work LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook

    • Curating and maintaining a consistent communications strategy across all channels that is reflective of our values

    • Working with the Events Team to promote workshops, networking events, and training

    • Collaborating with the Programmes Manager to design a strategy to promote our flagship Cafecito mentoring scheme

    • Publishing and promoting articles through our Vocês blog

    • Producing press releases and liaising with relevant media outlets

    • Managing community engagement through social channels and email

    • Designing visual content using Canva, Photoshop (or similar tools)

    • Capturing and curating photos and video from events
      Monitoring analytics and using insights to refine our communications strategy

    • Monitoring and responding to DMs via social media and email enquiries.

    • Passionate about advancing the careers and lives of Latinx womxn and the Latinx community in the UK

    • Experience in communications, PR, or social media management (voluntary or professional)

    • Excellent organisational and written communication skills

    • Confident using Canva or similar design tools

    • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and support others in ad hoc tasks

    • Interest in the charity sector and working in a volunteer-led environment

    • Monthly team meetings (1 hour each)

  • This is a voluntary role and we cannot offer remuneration.

This is a group for mutual growth through collaboration, created by Latin womxn, for Latin womxn beginning their professional journey. Registered Charity Number 1197419. 

  • The role of a trustee

    Trustees work with the Chair and other members of the Board to determine the Charity’s strategy and ensure that it delivers on its charitable objectives and long-term mission. The Board is ultimately responsible for the organisation’s viability, strategic direction and legal responsibilities. In addition, Trustees should be willing to use their specific skills and expertise to support the Board and Core Team in its decision-making and will be ambassadors for the Charity, always acting in its best interests. They will also be able to form sound and balanced independent views and to challenge in a constructive and collegial manner.

  • Role description

    To take part in formulating, and regularly reviewing, the strategic aims of the organisation. 

    To work with other trustees to ensure that the policy and practices of the organisation are in keeping with its main aims.

    To work with other trustees, to ensure that the organisation functions within the legal and financial requirements of a charitable organisation and strives to achieve best practices.

    To participate in overseeing the finances of the organisation and promoting a positive fundraising culture.

    To use previous expertise to aid the Director and other volunteers in making strategic decisions to imporve the Charity’s services.

  • Person specification

    You must be passionate about the values and objects of the organisation and to have an interest in developing professional opportunities for Latin American womxn in the UK 

    A background in either finance, communications, law, administration, or policy is desired but not essential 

    Experience in the charity sector, particularly an understanding of the Charity Commission is desirable but not essential

    You must be able to commit to attending six Board Meetings per financial year, which will be held remotely

  • Duration of term

    Trustees may serve a term of 3 years and are eligible for re-appointment up to a maximum of 3 terms.

  • Time commitment

    To attend board meetings every two months, with a duration of 2 hours each, for 6 meetings per year. In addition to attending emergency meetings when required.

  • Remuneration

    Please note the role is voluntary and we cannot offer remuneration.
